This talk will discuss the presidential election of 1860 particularly as it relates to Fort Wayne. It will focus especially on the appearance of Stephen Douglas in Fort Wayne on October 2, 1860, and the racial hatred that was expressed during that visit as well as the social divide that existed in the community at that time.
