FHMBrickWallllBlog2019A “Brick Wall Panel” with Genealogy Center Sara Allen, John Beatty and Delia Cothrun Bourne will begin the last days of Family History Month on Sunday October 27, 2019, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Discovery Center as staff members demonstrate some of the techniques used to tackle these quandaries. We will take three brick wall queries received though our Facebook “Brick Wall Question of the Week” to use as examples to show the methods we use to help you!

FindPastBlogThen on Thursday October 31, 2019 at 6:30 p.m., in the Discovery Center, John Beatty will share “Find My Past: A Tool for British, Irish, and American Ancestry.” This talk will explore the use of Find My Past, a major website for researching Irish and British genealogy. We will look at some of the major components of the database, including the myriad of British census and parish register information, as well as some unique images of Irish sources, both newspapers and manuscripts. We will also explore use of the Periodical Source Index, which is part of this database.
